Point taken, and I admit I worded things wrongly

However, I stand by what I said - Bond was a believable secret agent who suddenly found himself in a fantasy world

Having already been face to face in You Only Live Twice, you would think Blofeld might recognise Bond from the first meeting at the alpine resort.
It's the Clark Kent syndrome. Put on a pair of spectacles, act a little different, and no-one will recognize you.

Unlikely as both Bond and Blofeld both looked completely different.

Not to mention Blofeld disguised himself with a clever American accent!

I always loved OHMSS. It had the best script since FRWL and Bond seemed more real again. Say what you will about Lazenby's acting at the time.he ha literally never acted before and his start was taking over the role of a major franchise character from an actor that had defined the role. With all that being said he did more than an okay job he did an amazing job.
There next choice was Moore who, albeit was a fun Bond, was just really a safe choice as he basically played his popular character of Simon Templar and changed the name to the more successful Bond.

There was one horrid piece of casting in OHMSS and it wasn't Lazenby. It was Savalas who really is never once believable as the character of Blofield. I've wamed more to the portayal over the years but this always stuck out as the one sore spot.

Lazenby's acting would have improved and he would have made a formidable Bond. Sadly it was not meant to be and we wouldn't see an actor become like Bond until Dalton appeared. Finally taking the role after turning it down years before.

Lazenby was a fool not to do anymore Bonds, especially as he was offered a multi-picture contract. Just as well he starred in one of the best of the series.

I also thought Lazenby made a great Bond - much better than Moore, imo.

You have to remember Lazenby was a new actor and the pressure could be quite daunting. I think Lazenby would have become a Bond we'd really remember and I can see some of the films that followed going in a better direction with him.

There was also his agent, who advised him against doing more, as Bond wouldn't last. Shows what he knew!
