Latest UK Cuts: BBFC cuts and bans

From what I can gather, this new rating is wholly and soully for the film - there are no new extra features which has caused the BBFC to up the limit

"The BBFC explained the uprating from PG to 12:

The BBFC identified three issues where they felt that a 12 rating was more appropriate than a PG:

* The scene where Bond tears off a woman's bikini top and throttles her with it
* An aggressive use of the word 'bitch'
* The negative comic stereotyping of gay characters"

I watched this last week actually. I thought initially it might have been for the opening credits as they are really close to seeing nudity instead of just the usual silhouettes. As for the reasons given, I can't agree with the last two at all. The 'bitch' quote is Bond telling Tiffany what to do with the cassette so it's a disguised instruction rather than aggressive.

As for stereotyping, I don't think the sexuality of Kidd and Wint has any bearing on their darkly comic nature. They're just two sadistic killers with some one-liners. Surely there are much more blatant comically gay stereotypes in any number of Hollywood movies?

You're right. Once more, an absolutely ridiculous decision.

The first two you can kind of see what they were thinking, but that's an odd one for sure are they worried about gay kids under the age of 12 being offended . . . ?

What an odd decision! Not that it bothers me. I'd prefer to own all Bonds uncut, including Licence to Kill. I own a foreign blu of that and it was the first time I'd seen it in it's entirety.

James Band is male pig, he drinks, smokes, beds many women, flirts with anything in a skirt, speaks down to them, slaps their bums, shoots people, he has no respect for anybody.

Thats why we love him <3 hes JAMES BOND, thats his thing. New james bond is all abit too PC and trying to not only not offend woman, but make up for how bad bond was to them in previous films. I am not saying we shouldn't respect women! thats crazy (and my better half would kill me!) but....hes james bloody bond. Daniel craig is just too faggy.

...so I did a poster for a Bond convention that will be on at the end of the month. It has swanky metallic inks and everything! Kind of exciting to think people will buy it (hopefully! ) and get it signed by Honor Blackman and Bert Kwouk . . . !
