Dammit, you know what all this discussion means, don't you? I'm now going to feel compelled to buy all the Bond films on Blu-ray and re-evaluate them all again.

Just give in, it's inevitable anyway. I swore I was only going to upgrade my favourites and now I'm slowly selling the few I bought to aim for the box set. I have no idea why either!!

So in a couple of years I'll be able to say 'I watched For Your Eyes Only and Octopussy on BD and they were still crap'.

Personally, I dislike 'Moonraker' so much because it WASN'T a Bond film

Up to them, all the Bond films had been believable - an English secret agent/spy fighting baddies. They were gritty and real. Then came 'Moonraker', with it's science fiction trappings, which was a fantasy film and totally unbelievable.

Why should Bond (and the other MI5 agents) suddenly use a lazer gun when a Walther PPK has been acceptable previously?

Why would a meglomaniac, who was looking for racial purity, permit Jaws (who was not perfect, because of his metal teeth) and his girlfriend (who was not perfect, because she wore glasses) onto his space station?

'Moonraker' only exists because the public loved 'Star Wars', so what batter way to make the perfect movie than having a beloved character (James Bond) appearing in the setting of another beloved film ('Star Wars')

It would have been better, and more acceptable, if it featured Matt Helm!

I quite like the Matt Helm films, in spite of Dean Martin's need to sing all the time. But Coburn's Flint was far cooler and super-sauve!

In the credits to the episode, the name is listed with the 'dots' included, and other characters are always interrupted before they get to complete his name. There was also this brief appearance as 'JB' in The Return of the Man From U.N.C.L.E.

I almost forgot my only gripe with OHMSS though, even though it is rather a large plot hole.

Having already been face to face in You Only Live Twice, you would think Blofeld might recognise Bond from the first meeting at the alpine resort.
