I caught the first half of Hard to Kill on Channel 5 last night and it brought back memories of how much I enjoyed his early stuff. Ultra cheesy acting, but at the time it was a whole new angle on the martial arts genre as his Aikido wasn't as flashy as the high-kicking action that we'd come to expect.

Exactly, all of his early films had at least one great fight sequence. They had more in common with the brutal bar room fight in Don Siegel's Coogan's Bluff than any martial arts films being released at that time. That's what made him stand out from all the other 'western' martial artists.

Kicking balls and snapping bones is way more entertaining to me than the more technical martial arts in other movies of Seagal's peers (not that that stuff isn't very impressive, too)

Recently had a Seagal mini-marathon with Marked For Death, Above the Law, and Fire Down Below.

Nice wee collection there, I didn't even know that Ticker was in a 4 film pack!
As it's one of the few Seagals I don't own, I think I'll have to track that one down

Yup, nice collection there. Got to pick myself up a copy of Lawman. I enjoyed what there was of it.

Prefer his older films.
Can't bring myself to watch his DTV crap.

However,I reckon he'll be good in MACHETE.

Very harsh words. Some of them are quite enjoyable. Urban Justice (Renegade Justice), Belly Of The Beast, Into The Sun. The rest are still enjoyable if you watch them for what they are and knowing that you're not getting classic Above The Law Seagal.

There is a new Seagal movie coming out 27/12 it is made up of two episodes of his new True Justice tv show....so if the tv show takes ages to reach these shores at least it is a taster

I'll buy it

Although, I can't believe Optimum are actually trying to pass it off as a new Seagal film.
