Default Lone Wolf & Cub dvd box set - R2 Eureka vs. R1 AnimEigo

I just purchased the new Eureka LWAC box set. Everything about it sounds great aside from some dropped audio in the 1st film (can anyone confirm this?).
I bought the Eureka release because I heard that the AnimEigo release was not a true widescreen format and had some of the original image chopped of at the sides. Apparently the Eureka release is restored from the original transfers and maintains all of the original image in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio.

Can anyone compare these 2 releases and confirm whether any of this is true?

I read about the missing audio as well but I haven't checked my disc yet.I don't know if anyone here has the AnimEigo releases but I know the Eureka discs are vastly superior to the Artsmagic UK versions.

I have all the Animeigo ones and I'm pretty happy with them. Unfortunately I literally just shipped them 3000 miles for my dad to watch but I honestly don't remember an audio dropout.

I've seen caps of both and the Eureka set looks good too. Although I've never noticed it in motion, the Animeigo's do seem to suffer from combing artifacts here and there but then i think i prefer their colouring and seem to look a little sharper. Framing looks pretty much identical.

I only have the crappy old Vipco Shogun Assassin DVD but it's getting Blu-Ray release from Animeigo in a few months so I'll be picking that up.

I noticed in HMV yesterday that Eureka have just issued Shogun Assassin as an individual DVD release for a fiver.

The original pre-cert image of a sword-wielding Itto Ogami and cart-bound Daigoro still adorns the cover but both characters are now in front of an awful yellow background. Not good imo and i would've preferred the artwork to remain unaltered.

I'll probably get the U.S. BD at some point but I'm still hoping that Eureka will release Shogun Assassin on BD as part of the MOC series (with the original art). The dvd in the boxset includes the MOC logo before the main menu.

That yellow artwork is too Kill Bill for my liking. If it aint broke, don't fix it!

The US releases of the Lone Wolf films have always had pretty poor artwork. The original art is one of the really nice things about the Eureka set.
