Like Rik, I prefer Predator, but have grown to love the sheer cheese of it all, Chong's line about "macho bullshit" summing the film up in one sentence imo.
That remake, wow, cheeky haha.

Don't forget Chong's other line in the same scene:

"These guys eat too much red meat!"

Yep, a bit of shrapnel in the side and that's about it.

Bennett has to be one of the portlier most unconvincing villains ever but for sheer action rompery from the plot to the score this is a firm fave. I have to say though this disappoints on blu ray simply because its painfully clear when there's a rather lumpy looking stunt man taking over the stunt duties... A little DVD grain and softness is welcome by comparison!

I wouldn't like to choose between Commando and Taken, which i think is the best action movie of this century.

I suppose Commando wins it as its still a total joy to watch nearly thirty years later. I should try and answer it again in another twenty five years and see if i still rate Taken so highly.

Commando is an immense film. Just the beginning part with the deer and the Austrian monster carrying logs around signals that you're in for a cracking time.

It's so unapologetically ridiculous in it's 80's popcorn vibe. Did Mark Lester ever make another decent actioner? Showdown in Little Tokyo is terrible.
