I've been ignoring this BU release in favour of their horror stuff, didn't realise it was a 1969 italian gangster film (known as Gli intoccabili (The Untouchables??)), I'll have to look into getting it now, its also got glowing reviews on IMDB

Cool

Watched 'Rambo-First Blood' first of my Rambo Blu box set, the thing looked great to my eyes(check out the brief scene with a yellow helicopter skimming over the lake) film was better than I remember. The next two are just good violent fun, the fourth is more like the first except he kills anybody in sightIf the others look as good as 'First Blood' then you should get em in, there quite cheap, even new.

Although many people will disagree - it's my considered opinion that Stallone's final monologue in First Blood is one classy piece. What he says and how he says it - pure genius!

I love the second Rambo - great Action flick. I don't like the third one, though - it's ok, but the story is so extremely stupid.

Number 4 is great again - high body count, some kind of a message (and a message that I like, too), and great pace.

Greetings!

I watched Death Warrant last night on TV, hadn't seen it since I was about 9. Forgot about all the slow-motion/double cut roundhouses and slow-mo, but on the whole, it was ridiculously plotted and full of cliches. In other words, a great 80's style action film!

'Rambo II' Blu Ray, Despite what you read on the net, thought the PQ really good, great action... but a tad racist. More unreal like a superhero movie, yeah I know, "wait till you see the 3rd one!!". More enjoyable than I remember too.

Now onto 'Rambo III' Blu-Ray... Oh dear, first the PQ to me looks too smooth, but everywhere else on the net says it's great. The detail does look good and the colours pop fine, just doesn't grab me(a bit like the film). The story seems just a rerun of II with desert instead of jungle, even the baddies helicopter scenes look similar. Though it does seem odd in our modern view to see Stallone effectively helping out the Taliban with those pesky cartoon-like Russians.(and the UK versions cut out a horrific horse fatal trip/fall) Good, no one should miss that. To me easily the poorest Rambo, but Stallone makes up for it in spades with number IV. Can't wait to see my Blu of IV tonight. Now where's my .50 cal.

Thats the problem with Rambo 3 and The Living Daylights. The Taliban are heroic freedom fighters when its the Russians involved.

Possibly they are thought of in a different light now.

'Rambo IV' Blu-Ray, Now we're talking, this is just great(a bit short tho). Finally proper scum-bag baddies, good story and Stallone does a fab job behind the camera(some of the lush jungle and river bank scenes look so real you kinda 'feel' how hot it must be there). The night-time palette of rich blues make the wet-look of the camp seem full of detail, and Stallone doesn't try to make himself look 20, he's happy to look his age here. But it is without a doubt the most realistic, violent, brutal film of armed conflict you're likely to see(no A-Team sanitized gun play here) Bullet hits tear and rip thru flesh with abandon, and when Rambo grabs himself a .50 caliber machine gun, limbs and heads fly off in an almost mind numbing scene. And what can you say about a film where the head bad guy is played by a real rebel fighter, and is totally convincing playing someone he would despise in real life. Just a great send-off to the series. Never been a fan of 'Rocky' but kinda liked the 'Rambo' films so this was a joy, a real 5/5 from me. So get the box set in and watch em in order over a few days, you won't regret it.

Great summary! That's exactly how I feel about the fourth Rambo. One of the best action flicks ever.

Greetings!
