Good times for action movies - some great fodder in the rental stores in the early 90s via what was left of Cannon and PM and Shapiro Glickenhaus, Concorde and some others that escape my memory at the moment. Always the same formula - man pushed to the edge, finally snaps - nice satisfying takedowns - everyone happy. We could all do with one of these great action houses again.

Last Man Standing (1997, Joseph Merhi)

Continuing my Jeff fetish with the Wincott this time . Woooh mama etc. Exciting heist opener turns into a chase turns into a dive turns into a sex scene. No fooling officer. Plus Jonathan Banks is his pardner. SBU. He hits some goon with a wrench point blank

Highly Highly Recommendeded

Guns (1990, Andy Sidaris)

Hail! The American Jess Franco.
To say that weapons are in the vicinity fairly quickly is being coy. Something this movie isn't
Erik Estrada was in the cast list, but that's for the rewatch
Recommended. To Sidaris fans.

Picasso Trigger (Andy Sidaris)

Woooh female parent! Another trip into the Sidarisverse. Where logic may be thin on the ground, but the scenery is always nice. An assassination sparks off a chain of events that lead to many many deaths.
Recommended!!!

Malibu Express (1985, Andy Sidaris)

Another traipse thorugh the Sidarisverse. This time, we centre mainly on manly PI Cody Abeline and his rather hectic schedule. As always, there's barely time to breathe betwixt subplots, so hang on tight! Yes, there is titty.

Ahem. Atypical this, the pacing a tad slow compared to his other efforts, but Rollin it ain't
Still recommended.

The Expert (1995, Rick Avery)

Jeff Speakman is rather miffed. A total whacko has escaped justice in this rather insane caper. James Brolin shows off his beard.
Jeff has a friend he can talk to though, luckily she's a roving reporter type lass, so she's too busy chasing the story to notice his liking for sinking depth charges in sleazy bars, and kicking the heads in of the denziens of such. Ahem.
To impart the rest would rob you of all its glory.

Mercenary (1996, Avi Nesher)

Olivier Gruner actioner. John Ritter and Robert Culp also turn up cough.
Any film where the adversary is ... Martin Kove is good enough for me. Reasonably violent tbh. It's really a revenge flick as hard nosed businessman Ritter sort of "tags along" on a mission, believing that the personal touch is best. A hoot.

Double Target (1987, Vincent Dawn )

Miles O'Keefe? Bo Svenson?? Donald Pleasance???

High octane madness. The stock footage shark attack a highlight.
A joy to behold. What a year. What next?
STAY TUNED!!!!

I bought the doc In Search of The Last Action Heroes off Sky Store this morning. Should be quite entertaining but if it's crap, it was only £2.99.
