"Breaking News" 4/5

This was a rewatch for me and I think I enjoyed it even more the second time around. I'm a sucker for cinematic style and this film is full of it. I've mentioned it before on other forums, but the first eight minutes of this is a continuous crane shot that follows the build up to a blazing street shoot out. The timing and organisation for that sequence shows some great directorial flair. What then follows is fast and furious and perhaps a little bit predictable but this never lets up the tension. Some of the shoot outs are a little reminicent of those in "Heat", but if you are going to be influenced by anything you can't go far wrong with that one.

Bought this a few weeks ago for £2.99.Some of the acting is awful (Billy Blanks).Pretty standard cop and vigilante bringing down the bad guys early 90's action movie. The fim was initially refused a certificate by the BBFC before being granted an 18 after the distributor removed over 7mins and the BBFC removed over another minute Fortunately times have changed and the film is uncut now....and I didn't even think it was particularly violent

Yes this wasn't a popular film with Mr Ferman, and the BBFC cuts list is pretty heavy. Most of them were to assorted kicks and blows.

Yup.

He has made a few films over the years. "They Live" is still my favourite.
