Well worth it although FG is a very different film to Master but it's still a classic. I'll probably order a couple tonight as well.

You know this is no Shaw film right?
It could well be borrowed as many HK films used to borrow music extensively from other films.

The picture quality of FG and FGII is of very good quality. If you have any Shaw Brothers dvd released by IVL, you'll get the idea. Both have been remastered and are not cut.

However, on my copy of Flying Guillotine dvd, between the 5:30 - 5:35 minute mark, the picture suddenly turns blurry with horizontal lines clearly visible (combing effects). The defect must have been caused during the authoring process. Otherwise the dvd is perfect.

You can check if yours have the same defect.

I was wondering about something with the Celestial masters?
In some cases the picture seems to deform or bulge when the camera pans, mostly briefly.
Does anyone know what causes this?
Could it be Shaw scope?

Now I've watched some more, here are some of my favourite Shaw films so far:

Bamboo House of Dolls, The

Black Magic

Black Magic 2

Boxer's Omen, The

Corpse Mania

Demon of the Lute

Enchanting Shadow

Fake Ghost Catchers, The

Finger of Doom

Five Element Ninjas

Human Lanterns

Killer Snakes, The

Mighty Peking Man, The

Portrait in Crystal

Sexy Killer, The

Super Inframan, The

Do you agree?

"The ratio of satisfaction to disappointment on the Shaws is very high, something like 10 good ones for every disappointing one, with even those meriting a second viewing. " (Brian Camp @ Mobius)
