diffinately tops when it comes to car stunts, Frankenheimer used a french stunt team for the car chases in Ronin.

That Ford Mustang is one iconic car!

Although I like car chases, few stick out in my mind. I'd vote for the opening car chase in Mad Max. Some fun dialogue during it, too.

"We're really gonna get it this time, he had his indicator on"
"...better send a meat truck, Charlie's copped a saucepan in the throat."

Mad Max 2 has three memorable car chases; the short one that opens the movie, getting the cab for the truck and the Tanker chase, at the end. It's the momentum that i love about the tanker chase, along with the gang's determination, even after learning that the tanker is full of sand.

The Taxi movies have outlandish and fun chases. I agree with the previous views on those movies and The Transporter.

The Spy Who Loved Me has a decent car chase that doesn't end when the car crashes into water.

Lethal Weapon 2 has an interesting opening chase, from Mad Mel's beating of the station wagon's interior roof to the chase "on foot". Typical trailer moments;
"I'm not gonna make it!"

One of my modern favourites has to be the freeway chase in The Matrix Reloaded. After having put up with a large number of scenes dealing with esoteric Zen like conversations or scenes of hundreds of Agent Smiths we get a chase that is genuinely exciting. The scenes accompanied by the Don Davis/Juno Reactor score push all the right butttons.

The favourite car chases that battle it out over my top position would be the absolutely crazy ones in the original "Blues Brothers" AND- for a very different vibe- the very violent one in the depressingly underrated "The Corruptor" with Chow Yun Fat.

I seem to recall obscure Canadian comedy thriller Highpoint having a nice car chase as part of the film.
Plenty of jumping automobiles in this one!

OK - it's not a car chase, but for choreography, stunts, action and humour, it has to be one of the best:

I just like to mention three movies... Bullitt, French Connection, and Ronin.

Greetings!
