The Chuck Norris Thread

As I sit here and listen to Alan Silvestri's (Very eighties) theme to DELTA FORCE,it occurred to me that the star of that film surely deserves a thread to himself.

Ladies and gentlemen,I give you Mr Chuck Norris!

Not quite as big as Arnie or Sly during the eighties,Chuck was more of a 'serious' action guy. With far less corny one liners and a less flambouyant dress sense,Norris was the 'thinking person's' action hero.

Ex karate champ and all round nice guy,you can read about Chuck's life here....

Discuss all things Norris here.....

Quite an action resume eh?

I recently watched SILENT RAGE and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I frequently revisit Chuck's finest hours.You can't beat a Norris marathon on a Sunday.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 13th January 2011 08:23 PM

It's a pity some large studio doesn't do a 'Chuck Norris' collection on DVD.
I'm sure the great man himself would be up for a commentary or two.
It'd be great to hear what he had to say about working in films with such legends as Bruce Lee,Lee Marvin and Louis Gossett Jnr.

Now around the seventy mark,it's a pity these action legends gotta get old eh?:(

BioZombie 13th January 2011 08:34 PM

I've not seen a lot of Chuck Norris, but I did enjoy Silent Rage. It's like Chuck Norris vs Michael Myers which is a bit odd. Also I remember that Quentin Tarantino and Edgar Wright talked about it at lenght on the US Hot Fuzz commentry.

Stephen@Cult Labs 13th January 2011 10:28 PM

I had a couple of Chuck Norris films and recently went on a spending spree and brought my total up to 15 of his films. Still a few more to get though.

Did you know that Death once had a Chuck Norris experience?

I do love the old action flicks though, is there a Chuck Norris Collection available?

There's a dutch collection available of some of his films, unfortunately the transfers and even the quality of the covers are horrendous.

Did I ever think I'd live to see the day I'd post in 'The Chuck Norris Thread'! My dad is actually the big Chuck Norris fan in the family. I've seen most of his classic early/mid 80's stuff but not for a long time. I'll have to do some borrowing when I get back but off the top of my head, Invasion USA for it's sheer ridiculousness and Eye For An Eye are probably two of the better ones.

I've had to watch this almost weekly on TV for the best part of two years though.

One of my favourite bad actors! His films are alsways entertaining! Eye is fantastic. But I recommend people watch HellBound for an hilarious semi-horror film!

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 14th January 2011 09:39 PM

Always entertaining,the Chuckster.

I've just ordered Breaker! Breaker! and SIDEKICKS-That just leaves me to get FIREWALKER.

Anyone any idea of the best version?

Probably the Dutch MGM version. I was having a look earlier and you can get it through Amazon. I bought Breaker Breaker a few months ago. Hmmmmm, I'll leave it at that!

Yeah,I saw that Dutch version mate.

I'll give Breaker a shot before I resort to titles like Grease 2 or Cool As Ice..... ;)

Ice Ice Babee! :car:

I was watching GOOD GUYS WEAR BLACK last night.
Rather good actioner, but the Chuck 'sex' scenes are always laughable!

Chuck in Y Fronts and Anne Archer in a shirt.
Wasn't quite as erotic as Sutherland and Christie.....

I was going to get Good Guys earlier tonight but I don't want to get the R1 as it's in (or was in) a snapper case. I amost bought a R2 version, until I saw it was released by the same people who did the awful Dutch dvds of the Missing In Action films. :(

Unfortunately it is in a snapper case-awful bloody things!

Beware-so is A FORCE OF ONE.:(

What do you all reckon the best Golan/Globus film was?

 Long time ago mate.

I reckon DELTA FORCE is the best G/G-Norris production.
But for a sheer ludicrous 'plot',you can't beat INVASION USA! :woot:

zombiematt 24th January 2011 05:19 PM

My dad used to show me and my brother chuck norris movies I always liked code of silence just for the sight of chuck with a remote controlled robot kicking arse. It stars Henri silva as the bad guy.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 24th January 2011 07:00 PM

Yeah, one of the better Chuck flicks.
Silva always makes a good baddie.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 30th January 2011 10:01 AM

Right time to go and watch Breaker Breaker!

TJ Doc 31st January 2011 12:38 PM

Watched Invasion USA last night. I love how there's no real structure to it, just: terrorist stuff happens; Chuck shows up out of nowhere and saves the day. It's like some kind of action sketch show.

But I'd say his best has to be Code of Silence. That's a solid film all-round. Though the robot tank finale is a little out there.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 31st January 2011 06:13 PM

Breaker! Breaker! Ahem,not Chuck's finest hour.....:pound:

Anybody else here think the late, great Italian action actor Maurizio Merli bares something of a slight resemblance to the Chuckster?:)

"The Bulldozer" !! Love it :p

Andra Jai 13th November 2011 05:47 PM

Isn't it about time we saw some classic Norris on blu-ray?

the MIA trilogy would be top of my wants list closely followed by lone wolf mcquade, an eye for an eye and silent rage.

Hell I bet Invasion USA would be pretty damn good in HD too

Pete 13th November 2011 05:52 PM

INVASION USA on Blu would be fecking awesome!

Stephen@Cult Labs 13th November 2011 05:52 PM

I watched Invasion USA last night. Would love to see it on blu-ray, along with the MIA films, Delta Force 1&2, Lone Wolf McQuade, Code Of Silence. Tbh, I'd buy all of his films on blu.
