I'm the complete opposite to you.I find the 1968 Night about as exciting as watching paint dry, and although I do like Dawn, Day is definitely my fave of Romero's original trilogy.I think Arrow's Dawn Blu/DVD edition is now OOP.I'm pretty sure Day is still available.

When it comes to most B&W films, regardless of the genre, I would agree about it being too boring, but I had the luxury of seeing Night/Living Dead at an early age on late nite cable all by myself and being totally engrossed by it.

Personally, I didn't like Day for 3 reasons, 1. I didn't care about any of the characters, 2. the whole social commentary theme George has been portraying since the beginning was starting to get a little tiresome, and finally, he starts introducing the whole "zombies who can think" idea which I just couldn't quite swallow, no pun intended. That being said, I have to give credit where credit is due with regards to the fantastic make-up effects and all out carnage that eventually ensues.

As for the Day blu ray/DVD combo, I managed to find a listing for it at deepdiscount.com which would be far less pricey for me to order than from the UK.

Update:
I ended up ordering the Arrow combo pack and despite my feelings about the movie overall, am VERY happy with all the additional supplemental features it has to offer. No regrets!

Day and Dawn are great. But Day is my personal favourite.
Great Zombie and gore effects, claustrophobic underground settings and
a nice score from John Harrison. Social commentary in Romero
movies don't deter me in the slightest. I can watch his Zombie movies
with his SC on or off in the back of my mind. I just enjoy his Zombie
movies, well Night-Land. Being truthful about it, Diary and Survival
don't do anything for me. Hope you get your hands on the Arrow release
of Day and Dawn, as both releases are fantastic.

No way. Dawn of the Dead without its biting social commentary? Just an overlong Action (Horror) movie. It's the social commentary that makes this film a masterpiece.

Dawn is a masterpiece with or without the social commentary.
