to everyone who is thinking of boycotting the upcoming arrow release of inferno i urge you to reconsider.

for as long as i can remember us horror fans in the UK have bemoaned the lack of support from UK companies in releasing special editions of our favourite horror films, we have had to import from US, europe, japan, wherever, just to find the best versions available. thankfully this situation has changed, arrow and high rising productions have conspired to give us AMAZING special editions of classic horrors, if this is to continue into the future then we must support them in all their endeavours

i cannot believe that these people, who are by the way the same people who moaned all these years about no UK special editions, are thinking of not purchasing inferno because of a minor insignificant scene of a cat eating a mouse, this is a special edition of infero! in HD! its the type of release that we have been craving here for many years, if we forsake for a brief 5 second snip then future releases could be at risk

at this point arrow need as much public support as is possible in order to demonstrate that the market is there, if not then its bye bye special editions and hello to the good old days of bare bones inferior releases like the upcoming lizard optimum disc. THIS is the type of release that we should be boycotting, a bare bones, lazy, patronising release. we are the only ones who can affect change in the UK market

rant over!

i for one cannot wait for the special edition HD release of inferno

The people who will leave aside a UK release with exclusive (and genuinely excellent) extras, due to a 5 sec shot of a cat chewing a mouse being removed, will represent a very small minority indeed. Thankfully.
You don't think that anybody was turned off by those cut versions? Even if only 10 people don't buy it as a result, that's ten less sales and hence sales are affected.

But they need to be consistent or hopes will continue to be crushed, just because the animal in question was a mouse and not a snake! It's a pathetic double standard that needs addressing. Regardless of the fact it'll no doubt mean the BBFC will have to cut more films. So be it.

You mean Casino Royale was cut? What? I must now spend more money importing a foreign edition so that an extra nanosecond can, no doubt, increase my enjoyment of the other two hours of movie even more

Seriously, if you're going to spend more cash importing a foreign edition of this - over five seconds of cat vs mouse - when the UK one has tons of extras (almost an hour of new goodies, plus the usual booklet, poster etc and the World of Horror documentary) then I'm seriously disturbed...

Compared to the ratio of people who did buy them that represents a pretty small minority. New York Ripper must have done well to become Shameless's biggest seller, and the cuts to that were far heavier and more intrusive to the film.

Incidentally you'll probably need to repeat this entire debate after the BBFC have seen Profondo Rosso again. Only replacing 'mouse' with 'lizard'.

Yes I'm afraid you have to fork out some more hard earned readies for the FULL UNCUT VERSION for the privilege of....... (wait for it)...... Mads Mikkelsen resting a rope on Bond's shoulder and saying "Such a waste"!

Now can you live without it? You know you can't.

Yes Vince, I can see there will be another 50 pages on the BBFC's decision to cut that particular film.
