IMO, it's worth watching for O'Toole and MacDowell's performances alone.

There is a decent story, but there is also a degree of hardcore pornography as well. It's definitely worth watching so you can make up your mind. For what it's worth, these are my thoughts: Caligula | Film 365

The porn is pretty hard in places and wonderfully perverse in others but kinda fits in well with the rest of the film in all it's over the top glory.
