I joined this forum JUST to vote on this... that should tell you how much I want this on blu-ray! Well, I voted for blu-ray and DVD since I read the UK doesn't have a decent DVD of The Beyond. However, while I have the very nice Anchor Bay DVD from 2000, I would LOVE a blu-ray upgrade!

Btw, I'm sure someone else already said it, but if you can somehow snag Zombi 2 aka Zombie aka Zombie Flesh Eaters (almost wrote Zombie Flesh Easter) as well, please do

Yeah, I probably should've rephrased that... basically my main purpose in joining was to take part in the poll :-p The Beyond is one I'd love to see on blu-ray... and as mentioned before, Zombi 2 as well :-)

Thank you! Yeah, The Beyond is big on my "blu-ray wish list". I'm still wondering who will "reach" Zombi 2 first though... I know Blue Underground WANTS to release it, but apparently they have to deal with some legal issues. Not sure what though, but it could have to do with Shriek Show.

The cost to purchase Zombi 2 is ridiculous (moreso for these financially troubled times) so I'd try not to hold my breath too long!

The Blue Underground single DVD release and Shriek Show's 2-DVD SE of Zombie Flesh-Eaters do me just fine, not bothered about a Blu-ray release.

Watched the Shriek Show copy yesterday afternoon - it's pretty good, but just made me want to get it on Blu even more!

It makes me wonder just how much better The Beyond can look on Blu-Ray without a SERIOUS remastering...

Indeed. I'm aware of how much Shriek Show paid for the rights - and it wasn't cheap. I'm surprised that release didn't cripple them financially, to be honest.

So yes, Calum's right, it could be quite a wait for this to reach Blu-ray.

From what I can gather, the legal confusion was that Shriek Show licensed directly from the Italian licensor, when in fact Anchor Bay/Blue Underground still had distirbution rights via a deal with the Jerry Gross Organisation who held North American rights. Don't quote me on that, but I'm pretty sure that's where the confusion came in. Basically, both licenses were valid, so the two companies reached an agreement. Shriek Show would initially put out an extras-packed SE whilst BU would put out a fairly bare-bones affair until a later date when they would put together their own SE.

That sounds about right mate - certainly, the Italian licensor wants massive moolah for this one. When I heard what they were asking I pretty much realised there and then that this is a no-go for any (sane) UK copy to pick up.

Hate to be the bringer of bad news but there you go.
