Ah another delayed Arrow release. All the more time for more pre-orders. Why are all Arrow releases delayed so often? This doesn't seem to happen with other companies.

Arrow is a small outfit - combine that with the fact that the UK is not a hotbed of complex packaged DVD/BD releases - creating packaging into which multiple booklets, discs etc need to go in does cause hold ups which is the deal with Battle Royale.

Just to add to what Almar's said, this does happen with other companies. Releases get put back all the time it's just that they don't communicate with their customers directly so you never hear about it. Because Arrow let us in on their release process from the earliest stages we find out about these delays but also get explanations for them.

Delayed again? I know it can't be helped, but considering Deep Red and Bay of Blood should have been released a couple of weeks ago, and then Monday, and now December, and probably January, then maybe February, and now BR's been delayed, it's really REALLY frustrating.

I would rather wait for a top drawer release than have Arrow send out DVD/BD packages that are only semi-finished and rushed out in a half-arsed fashion in order to meet an optimistic deadline that they thought they could meet six months ago.

Noticed that Amazon have added a second Battle Royale listing with a release date of Feb 28th, guessing that's the Special Edition. A whole 90p cheaper than LE lol, you may as well get the Limited while you can.

Packaging is one thing, but could we get word on the video transfer? Is there heavy DNR use? What about grain structure? Maybe get a screen shot or two?

Here's an update on the Battle Royale release from the guys at Arrow:

"The first few elements of the Battle Royale box have been printed and the word from the factory is that they look great – we haven’t been able to scrutinise them ourselves yet as we’re waiting for all the elements to be put together and final products being assembled. This should be complete very soon and each element will be with retailers ready for the release date of 13th December."
