It was not an affirmation on my behalf.

Just caught up with this thread as I was looking forward to the Blu-ray and I have to say I totally agree with this. The screencaps of the DVD look dull and unnatural (especially the outdoor shots), images 3, 4 and 5 look awful with the loss of red in image 4 and the comments about the blood looking like rust of particular concern. I have also cancelled my pre-order for the time being, although I'm hopeful that the Blu-ray transfer will be brighter, just not sure if it'll be good enough. Shame. Most people on this forum would buy these releases no matter what and opinions from those people are all well and good, but when something's stopping sales to those of us who won't just buy everything regardless then that's not so good. |

I already passed on "Two Evil Eyes" (Dvd), "The Card Player" (Dvd), "The Stendhal Syndrome" (Dvd), "City Of The Living Dead" (Blu)" because I think their american couterparts are better. I bought "City Of The Living Dead" (Dvd) just for the extras. In this particular case I like the color better than the other editions, itá a matter of taste and it suits me well. Let´s not forget that we are looking at images and not the movie in motion, I can be better or worse, but the plus that you have with this edition is the 2 versions of the movie. |

It's just an initial disappointment because I think of this film as having such vivid colours and looking at those images no amount of turning up controls on a TV is going to make it look the way I think it should, in all its glorious 70s garish glory. As I said, hopefully the Blu-ray will look better, that's what I wanted anyway.

I also don't really know what to make of these colours. I'll wait to see the blu screencaps but my enthusiasm for this release has stifled a bit to be honest

I believe the source print was used for both mediums. Only if someone changed the color code when producing the blu. I know the blu has changed dates but I believe it was due to some authoring problems with the final disk. |

Sex gore mutants' review seems generally positive, and as Limey said on the other thread - there can be a world of difference between the image on a dvd and blu. It's good to hear that the colours are vibrant and that there's natural grain present. Shame to read about the shiver - but if it was present on the AB, then that suggests it was inherent to the print. Initially, I was going to suggest whether the dvd caps on beaver were from the Italian print because a couple of reviews have suggested the colours were murky on that version; however, I had to scupper that theory because Beaver did not have disc 2 which contains the Italian version. Nevertheless, I am quite happy with the screencaps and like what I have read about the blu. |

I think people on here love the care and thought that Arrow / Shameless put into their releases, but it doesn't automatically guarantee an instant sale. Plus it has been pointed out that Arrow haven't always got it 'right' ( see the disagreemets over Rick's Inferno artwork for example ). I guess sometimes we all get a bit carried away by the recent spate of Arrow's releases ( and for good reason! ) but I also believe we are very honest in our opinions too |
