The LE BD box sold out fast everywhere it seems, and now it's going for a low low £49.99 at Play... Congrats on the last minute snaggage!

Default Excellent feedback from US Forum - TBS

Just thought I would post this response from the List Owner at US Forum TBS. Very, very good feedback for the efforts of Arrow which deserves to be flagged up frankly:

"Guys,

Darryl is correct. Both of our BATTLE ROYALE discs were shipped
on December 11th, arriving at their destinations yesterday,
exactly 33 days after shipment. It looks like the catastrophic
effect the weather had on the postal system is gradually working
itself out because my copy of DEEP RED, which was shipped more
than two weeks after BATTLE ROYALE arrived on the same day,
fourteen days after shipment. Normally parcels from Amazon UK
take between 4-8 days to arrive here on the East Coast, so as
I said, it looks like they are working their way through that
mountain of mail that accumulated during the snow emergency.

At any rate, it was definitely worth the wait...
The BATTLE ROYALE boxset is massive!
Definitely the nicest "special edition" offered
thus far on the format for an exploitation/cult film.
Normally only big Hollywood (snore) films get this
kind of treatment, and even then it's rare.
That's the thing that I like best about Arrow's releases...
It's not that they are doing lavish, feature-laden
special editions, but that they are doing them for
non-mainstream, cult exploitation and horror films that
are only known to die-hard film buffs.

Of course Blue Underground has (slowly) begun responding
to Arrow's amazing and prolific releases by announcing
INFERNO and DEEP RED in the coming weeks/months, but I
plan to continue buying Arrow's releases because their
efforts have definitely earned my admiration and
support. Yes, Blue Underground's releases may prove
a tad better in terms of PQ and audio specs/configuration,
due to the MUCH larger USA market/pressing sizes, which
will allow them the luxury/budget of spending more time
and/or money doing pricey restorations and elaborate
film transfers... But Arrow's PQ and AQ are already
so excellent that the differences (if any) will
likely be slight. That said, I'll definitely
pick-up Blue Underground's releases as well.
Let's face it, there aren't many companies working
to bring rare/cult films out in hi-definition,
and the few that are, deserve and need the support
of fans of this kind of cinema... Even if it means
buying Arrow's releases for their superb artwork,
packaging and extensive supplents, and buying
Blue Undergrounds for the (perhaps) slightly
better PQ and/or 7.1 DTS MasterAudio.

-Bill"

Mine arrived in Billerica MA today - 34 days in the mail!

No. 5364 arrived in great shape. What an imposing package - killer!

One oddity with my copy - in my postcards, if you flip No. 5 over, the back, instead of being pure white has a pink wash over the whole side. Anyone else have this?

I've just had a look at mine and #5 is the same as the others -- yours must be extra collectable!

Cheers wtfFILM, it arrived today, No. 8606. It's a fantastic set, still can't believe I got it for £17.99 but I'm so happy I did!

Received my set yesterday and had a chance to check it out today. Phenomenal release! Seeing some complaints from people claiming it was an upconvert made me laugh. PQ was solid (did this originate from an original 2000/2001 HD master, or from a newly commissioned, proprietary one, as there looked to be some minor DNR?) and the DTS MA track was really terrific.

The best BR has ever been presented, and any talk of the forthcoming AB release besting this is absurd!

Highly recommended!

Got mine a couple days ago, #8388.

I'm glad I pre-ordered when I did; the box and inner cases are phenomenal, and the fact that I can go a while yet without buying a region-free BD player made me glad I ordered when I did. The fact that the bonus disc is PAL doesn't even bum me out.

The transfer looks soft and maybe a bit too dark, but it looks so much better than any of the DVDs I'm happy with it. The last time I saw this film was on VCD, so believe me when I say I've never seen it look better!

I couldn't agree more with the above opinion and very well said.

Of course, i personally do enjoy Arrow's releases for their "lavish, feature-laden" incentives as well as the appreciation of the target audience the label's titles are intended for.

Yes this was a great post by Bill Cortner at TBS and I thought it was well worth re-posting here so that Arrow can see for themselves that the efforts being made ARE being appreciated....
