Arrow Video - The Bird With The Crystal Plumage

Dario Argento's landmark Giallo - The Bird With The Crystal Plumage - is coming to DVD and Blu-ray with the full Arrow Video treatment! The release is expected in the first quarter of 2011.

Meanwhile here's a sneak look at Rick Melton's all-new painting which will form panel one of four artwork options. The mood here is very much inspired by pulp novel covers...

Dario Argento nails the Giallo blueprint in The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, a brutal thriller that packs in plenty of terrifying murders alongside it’s genre defining mix of red herrings, leather gloved slashers and stylish decor.

When Sam, an American writer in Rome, witnesses an attempted slaying in an art gallery, he unwittingly sets the killers sights on himself and his beautiful model girlfriend. But soon, things start to unravel as it becomes clear that the identity of the unknown slayer is very much open to question.

Argento’s groundbreaking shocker combines eye-popping visuals with a seamy vein of sadomasochism and a lust for violence to create a genre defining movie classic.

Well it's Arrow's masterplan to make you poor but so very happy ;)

All these titles take a lot of work for Fran at Arrow to do so they all end up spreading out which in turn protects your wallet

well done Rick!

Quite surprised this is still rated an 18 - the only scene I would imagine that would cause any problems is the bed slashing scene. But even then it's not particularly graphic.

Anyway - I have the Blue-Underground edition of this and it looks great in 1080p. Love this film so could be a double-dip. :p

Really digging this artwork

It's somehow classy and lurid all at the same time, which is probably a good approach to take for adversing most of il maestro's thrillers.....scratch that.....probably most gialli in general :)

Great job from Rick, loving the cover.

Love that cover, bit of a retro feel to it. My favourite yet from Rick

nekromantik 5th November 2010 12:31 PM

is it gonna be rated 18 then or will one of the trailers push it up to a 18?

Excellent news, the more Argento on blu-ray the better.
