Default A MORE uncut ZFE...

Hiya,

Loved the Arrow BR release of ZFE but I have a couple of questions...

I have loads of old VIPCO VHS tapes that have ZFE trailers on them and there is stuff on there that is not in the movie.

1) As the cop shoots the fat zombie on the boat at the start, that camera zooms in on the wounds. This is not in any version I have seen!

2) During the shark attack the music jumps all over, in the trailer it shows the zombie dragging the shark down in a fountain of blood, has there been severe cuts that no-one knows about?

It's not uncommon for trailers to have footage that never made it in the final cut.
Or maybe those shots do exist in a foreign export version (like for example Japanese)?

Bdc is right, I think it's just alternative/unused footage. There's also a shot of the fat zombie going down on the Cop that's not in the film.
In fact that scene is different in the trailer, his entrance smashing through the door is clumsy and there's a bit shown from further back.

Yeah, the current releases from Blue Underground & Arrow are the most complete available. A lot of films have footage in the trailer that isn't in the finished film, sometimes ending up on the cutting room floor or replaced with alternate footage, if another, longer version of ZFE was out there then I'm pretty sure we would know about it

I'd still like to know if the sequence of the zombie coming out of the harbour was ever filmed and if so does the footage still exist

Slightly off-topic, but related: Jacob's Ladder had approx. 20 minutes removed due to the film being too overwhelming for test audiences, leaving them 'catatonic', and you can see some extra bits in the trailers, the making of, and there are 3 deleted scenes on the special edition DVD, and other bits have only been written about. If you like this film, please ask Lionsgate to release the original cut, as it would make a great film even better - as well as being more disturbing and having more horror sequences, the ending wouldn't just come out of nowhere - the theatrical cut is noticeably missing a climax and turning point for the protagonist.

Jacob's Ladder being cut bothers me as much as The Devils being cut

The guy (Captain Haggerty) who plays that Zombie seemed to recall it was.
I think he even said it featured more than one Zombie and was shot from behind. (I'll watch the interview again tonight.)
Lord knows if the footage is still out there somewhere.

Apparently in the original script the harbour zombie is supposed to rise from the water and attack some homeless guys but how much of this was filmed is anyone's guess.

If Captain Haggerty remembered filming any of this scene then this is even more intriguing however I'm surprised the footage has never come to light.

Then again I don't recall seeing any deleted scenes for any Fulci movie so perhaps he destroyed the out takes from his movies?

Been ages since I watched that documentary (on the SS 2 disc DVD), but I thought that the scene was only done for promotional material, could be wrong though so don't quote me on this
