Either he's not seen it yet - has a correct 50Gb disc or wouldn't know the difference between a Bluray and a dvd unless it had the Bluray logo on the disc

I know the difference between a Blu and a normal DVD but anyone with a memory of previous releases of The Beyond is going to notice a vast improvement, even on this mistaken lower quality release. I put the BR in to look for the B&W prologue and then skipped a chapter and thought the PQ was pretty good. This hsould mean that the proper Blu-Ray will look remarkable for a film of it's type and era.

So, are the specs/extras the same for BD and DVD? (Apart from the 1080p, of course)

the higher bitrate will improve it but not by too much.
if there are EE artifacts then they wont be gone by upping the bitrate, the lower bitrate will make them easier to see but they still will be there.

Of course this is all tech talk as I not seen the Blu yet, just going by reviews of the 25GB disc.

Are the English subs for the English or Italian track?

There are two separate subtitle options: one for the English track and the other for the Italian so they reflect the dialogue.

Think I'll just hold onto my Grindhouse version for now.

Why? The corrected Arrow release of The Beyond is a lot better!

Yeah it's in colour which is a better sign

The sound on Arrows BD is excellent but the picture has some flaws. I'm content enough with my DVD for now but just gonna keep an ear out for future versions.

Which flaws are you referring to? I don't know any. The corrected Blu-ray of The Beyond is the best release of this movie so far. Period.

Greetings!
