I've seen so many Euro dvd's with forced subtitles that it doesn't bother me any more.

I got the French disk on the weekend for a cool 19€.
I'll post my views once I watch it. I'd end up watching the film with subs anyway, so doesn't bother me.

I thought that only happened the once, with City of the Living Dead. Other titles like Inferno and Bird with the Crystal Plumage were most certainly not shared transfers with BU.

That's my understanding too as, generally, Blue Underground and Arrow Video work independently, buying their own HD masters and releasing them with different extra features, audio tracks and artwork.

Before this threatens to spiral out of control and into a slanging match, can everyone please stick to the topic at hand and not post things which could be taken personally?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the way with these threads

Greetings!

PS: I would not buy the french disc for other reasons: a) no poster, b) crappy artwork (why the do they have to use pseudo-modern artwork for a release of an old flick?), and c) no overwhelming improvement over the Arrow release in terms of PQ (I think both look quite alright). Just my two cents.

PPS:*= That does not mean that I support forced subs - I just don't care about them.

I agree, its not that I mind subtitling, its the fact I cant turn it off, reminds me of the days I had to import films from amsterdam to get them uncut.

and the french pq aint much better, not enough to warrent me buying it at any rate.

Watched last night.

What can I say, I was blown away by the transfer on this disk. Gorgeous in almost every way! Best Blu transfer so far? Almost! As mentioned before I don't mind FR subs on screen since the missus needs them, I barely noticed them.

As for the film, absolute belter of a movie, loved it. Not seen it in years!
Watched the doc that was an extra and was surprised to see Argento speaks good French! lol

I watched this today and thought it was a decent enough transfer. I can see what some reviewers have pointed out by the fuzzy video noise, but I didn't find it to be a major distraction. Sometimes the music was way too loud but at no point did ever obscure dialogue or sound effects. Definitely worth getting if you're a fan of the film.
