Slaughter High – The DVD Specs

For Marty, School Days were the worst days of his life...

http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/...ughterHigh.jpg

When the alumni of an all-American high school make a trip to attend a class reunion, they reconnect with their pasts in ways more bloody and fatal than they could possibly imagine in the 80s slasher classic Slaughter High.

On arrival, they discover the school shuttered and in disrepair, as if the reunion were just a ruse to drag them back. Still, the old pupils decide to break in and celebrate anyway. A deadly error considering that Marty, the nerd whose teenage life they made a living hell, is lurking in the dank, dark corridors, waiting to bring fear, torment and slicing, dicing murder to each and every one of them.

A Stalk ‘n’ Slash video store classic from the golden era of bottom shelf horror starring scream queen Caroline Munro (Maniac, The Last Horror Film).

Huge props on getting Graham Humphreys to do a cover.

Another nice cover.
Far more sinister than the usual artwork for this movie.

More horror DVDs/BDs should have artwork that is quite dark, creepy and sinister if it fits the film -- it really works on The Beyond

Amertume 5th May 2011 11:03 AM

Soooo looking forward to this. :D

If the new release uses the uncut french print or the (uncut?) german print, I guess it will be in widescreen!
Would be pretty cool if it ended up using the "April Fools Day" credits title.

Don't forget that this is showing in Glasgow this Sunday with an in-person appearance and Q and A from Carolnie Munro herself!

The Funhouse / Slaughter High

I'll also be doing a BIG DVD giveaway to attendees so come along and you may just win a freebie or two!

I quite like that the back of the poster is a collection of all of the Arrow Video covers. Not that I use the posters anyway, but it's pretty nice. Perhaps they've done this before, and I've just never noticed.

It's a bit disappointing that it's advertised as a 2-sided poster though if that's the case. To me, a 2-sided poster implies a poster image on each side. By that token every poster every is 2-sided :)

Most of the posters have the Arrow Video collection on one side, but some of them such as The Funhouse, Obsession, Tenebrae and Phenomena have alternate artwork on the other side.

Same here. I personally would have loved an original artwork poster for Kentucky Fried Movie.

Nos, you have the possibility to contact those in charge @ Arrow's, I guess? Tell them we really love their releases, but REAL two-sided posters for every future Arrow release would be the icing on the cake.

Greetings!

Yeah, my issue is just that every poster is advertised as 2-sided, regardless of whether it has alternate artwork or an Arrow ad on the reverse. Just comes across as a bit misleading that's all. No big deal obv! Also getting way off-topic here! Back to DVD specs...

Amertume 17th July 2011 06:57 AM

I definitely agree about the two-sided thingie. Seems like only the most expensive dvd-releases with four panels have true two-sided posters?

Which artwork did they choose for the poster in the case of Slaughter High??

It's the same artwork by Graham Humphreys as on the front cover, which looks really good on a piece of paper that size.

Most? I take it this is limited to DVD releases then, as every Arrow Blu-ray I have has a double-sided poster relating to the movie (there are only 2 I don't own)?

This is actually my first Arrow Video DVD I own, and I felt it was a nice change to see all the original artwork collected together. I at least appreciate it, if no one else does. I'm sure this is possibly related to the quality of the image artwork they have for the cover, and if it will scale to poster size for print?

Allan bryce has been talking this up in the new dark side, (if you havent got in then get out there and buy it, its a fantastic mag.) not enough cash this week and still playing catch up. (ordered Savage streets finally + almost human) But this is on my too buy list!

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 17th July 2011 09:43 PM

Was he talking it up because he's on one of the commentaries? Whatever the reason, it's a great release of a fun film and the commentary with him, Caroline Munro and Calum Waddell is a great listen.

Splatterdragon73 4th August 2011 01:22 PM

My two copies of SH arrived yesterday and i'm certainly pleased with what Arrow have given us. As always the company have gone to the expense and effort to deliver another worthy and buyable U.K. release so it's another case of money well spent for yours truly.:)

Am I the only person who has found the easter egg, which is easily discovered on the 'special features' page?

I found it by accident as I'd completely forgotten it was on the specs I'd posted!

It's quite funny and shows there's more to an interview than you normally see in the extra features package.

Slaughter High is coming soon to Blu via Lionsgate according to HMV.

No release date yet.

Wonder if that’s the Vestron title that whoever runs their Facebook page wasn’t allowed to announce from Lionsgate
