I've checked with Arrow, Prince, and the interviews on Erik the Viking are the same as on the older disc.

Same here -- I must have either rented the original release or seen the film on Sky Movies as I don't own the DVD, something which will be remedied when this is released.

I love watching the Python or Pythonesque (Jabberwocky, Erik the Viking, etc) flicks when they're shown on TV, I'm not sure I'm up for buying them though.Holy Grail and Life of Brian are probably the only two I'd make an exception for.

I think Jabberwocky is the only film made by former members of Monty Python I haven't seen as I own things like Time Bandits, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Brazil etc. As I don't have Eric the Viking on DVD already, I'll definitely buy this.

I got the check discs yesterday. The actual technical specs vary from those on the announcement/press release. They say that the theatrical cut has 5.1 audio (in addition to 2.0) and English subtitles. The director's cut has 5.1 and 2.0 stereo and subtitles (although no setup menu) while the theatrical cut has 2.0 stereo only (the film was mixed in Dolby Stereo) and no subtitles.

On a positive note, however, the theatrical cut is also in 16:9 (the press release says 4x3 for the theatrical cut). When I first read the press release, I thought the theatrical cut came from an older master; however, upon a quick check they look the same so it is nice that the longer cut was probably remastered and the director's son's cut created from that new transfer.

I've never seen the film but I remember reading that it was not well-received upon release (although it seemed to have gained a cult audience on videotape, at least in the US).
