Default Battle Royale: Unlimited

This just in from Arrow!

Quote:
Due to the interest from The Hunger Games, Battle Royale has skipped Day of the Dead and The Cat O Nine Tails to be the first to get an unlimited make over. This will be BD single format like Caligula – we will keep the ArrowDrome version going.

There will be both a single disc and 3 disc variety. They should be out soon.

Single Disc Version RRP £17.99
3 Disc Version RRP £22.99

ONE DEAD. 41 TO GO.

Battle Royale is back. It’s time to return to the island and kill your friends, because the cult Japanese movie that defines twisted action and sickening violence is ready to shock you all over again.

In a world where teenagers have no respect and adults are losing control there can be only one solution: Battle Royale! Now, see what happens when you let a high school class loose on an island, arm them and then give them a simple choice... Kill your friends or have them kill you; with poison, cross-bows, machetes and dynamite. ‘Beat’ Takeshi Kitano (Violent Cop, Zatoichi) is a teacher pushed to the edge by his unruly charges. Kidnapped and gassed, his class wake up with exploding metal rings around their necks. If they rebel, they could lose their heads. Now they have three days and only one is permitted to survive this grisly battle to the death.

Directed by the master of 70s Yakuza thrillers Kinji Fukasaku and featuring Kill Bill star Chiaki Kuriyama, Battle Royale is the movie that helped to define extreme Asian cinema in the 21st Century.

I already own the awesome limited box bluray set but I think this is a great one to re-release under the Unlimited banner. It's probably one of the most commercially-appealing titles Arrow currently have to be honest and makes sense with the current success of The Hunger Games.

So do i and yours truly owns two copies of both this incarnation and the DVD box set. Not to mention the subsequent window slipcase, four-sleeve HD edition too. So for these reasons i'll not be buying the unlimited release.

I have to admit that I've completely lost track of Arrow's catalogue by now. Sad thing is, I'm not interested in catching up on it, as the whole "Limited + Unlimited or just Unlimited" affair is pretty depressing, and as at least 70% of Arrow's recent releases are not my cup of tea. And now the sixth Battle Royale release...

The upcoming releases of Demons and Demons 2 are a silver lining, though.

Greetings!

seems like a crazy amount of versions to have really.

these unlimited versions seem like not as good as the original limited ones - so i wont be buying any of them. i have enough battle royale anyway with the tartan asia regular and tin dvds plus bluray limited edition and also slipcase bluray sets. it is a kick ass film though - and i will never watch or buy this hunger games ripoff movie*

*unless it gets a uk bluray steelbook release - then it will go with twilight in my very small steelbooks i hate but had to buy pile.

This probably sounds like a superfluous question, but does the 3 Disc 'Unlimited' release come in a clear case, or a blue case? I've noticed lots of retailers have artwork that shows it in a blue case, but noticed a photo on Arrows facebook that shows it in a clear case. Anyone picked it up and can confirm.

The 3 disk 'Unlimited' come's in a clear case with a red sticker over the top.
The single disk edition is the one in the blue case.
