It is a disappointing announcement as I love the releases to which I've become accustomed. However, as Arrow said in the announcement, if the lower costs allow them to release more titles, that's great news and it'll be fascinating to see what they have on the cards for 2013.

If this results in more releases a la the Battle Royale set, then I think this is good news. |

I hope that's a real possibility for flagship releases so money saved can be invested in 'premium' releases for the titles which will appeal to just about everyone who is interested in horror and cult films, such as the frequently wished for Zombie Flesh Eaters.

So the titles that are arrow video dvd only, like pervert, deadly blessing and slaughter high. Will arrow continue to print these titles? If so, will they be released as arrowdrome, or will arrow video dvds still be released of existing titles but no new titles. I love everything Arrow has done thus far, and see no reason to doubt there judgement. I LOVE the idea of dual formats. It will be better value for money in my book. |

I think we have to accept the fact that these are lean times for DVD producers, particularly niche labels like Arrow, Shameless, Nucleus etc. They have a business to run and, whether we like it or not, they are out to turn a profit. What would be the point otherwise? I have no problem with that. If in order for Arrow to continue trading they need to cut costs and the slipcases have to go, then so be it, that's just the way it is. As long as Arrow keep putting out quality releases, I'll keep buying. The slipcase editions we currently have will become highly collectible too and as a collector I quite like that aspect of it, to have something that might not be around much longer. Not for resale purposes either, just the fact of owning them is reward enough for me. If all of this means more releases from Arrow, then I'm more than happy.
