At this rate you'll get it in your Crimbo pressies mate! |
This just in from Arrow re: the delay to Who Dares Wins (and Wild Geese). Quote:

:headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang: I swear to the good lord above! Well, not so bad really, I already have a pre-order in so my moeny's not going any where. |
That's usual practice with the BBFC: Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid and a Miami Vice (TV) episode were both cut for cockfighting scenes. I pre-ordered this a while ago anyway! Well done Arrow  Haven't seen WDW for ages - and I actually remember the storming of the embassy being shown on the news! |
I'm sick of this. Showing a cock fight is showing a cock fight. No matter if it was staged for the film. More BBFC bullshit. |
Stupid BBFC! The uncut version has been on Movies For Men loads of times. Personally I don't think it was staged by the filmmakers. |
The BBFC can suck a drain pipe as far as i'm concerned. They didn't cut the cockfight from Love Goddess of the Cannibals did they? |
Exactly. If it was staged by them and filmed, or they just filmed a cockfight that was happening anyway, both have been put on film for entertaintment and both can be considered cruelty (or not). This is the arguement I would use. I'd fight the decision. I know some people will say it's just a cockfight, but a cut is still a cut |
I've plenty cock's fighting in pubs over the years and the only cuts were to faces! ****ing BBFC! So what's the ETA now Sarah? I've told the wife I want these films on my Crimbo list....;) |

Yep.Good suggestion mate. |
Wy don't Arrow contact Margheriti's son Edoardo? He's on Facebook. He worked on most of these films and could confirm if it was staged or not. |

Who Dares Wins out next January! :( (according to new amazon email) The Commander I can live without - but when's the release of The Wild Geese now? I can't wait to see an anamorphic widescreen print of Codename! |

Well this is no surprise to me. I think it is about time the BBFC were decommissioned. The BBFC are a money making scheme, nothing more. I thought we lived in a democracy? Who says some middle class psychologist, who has no experience of life, can tell me what I can, and can't watch! Do the BBFC think that people won't manage to find copy's of films that they deem unfit to watch? Film censorship is wrong, the cinema is art, and who are the they to remove images from an artist's vision. It's about time the BBFC got realistic! |

Well we need some kind of unrated system in the UK. Lets be honest, the people who are going to purchase these sorts of films are all going to be in there 30's or older. The BBFC should realise this. Is some 18 year old really going to buy The Commander? No way, he is going to be buying some Hollywood Blockbuster like Fast and Furious 10, or whatever other garbage Hollywood are churning out these days. Lets hope Arrow fight this decision. The BBFC might as well cut the ending of Apocalypse Now, a real animal being slaughtered on screen for entertainment purposes, well what's the difference? I mean it was staged, I've seen Hearts of Darkness. Oh wait, they ate the animal afterwards, so that makes it O.K. It could be a good thing these films are delayed, I'm sure it will only better the quality of the prints and extra features. I do hope Arrow decide to release Code Name: Wild Geese and The Commander on Blu Ray, rather than DVD. May be Arrow could get Lewis Collins to provide some commentary for all three of the films to be released, now that would be worth the wait. How about more Antonio Margheriti added to the collection, The Last Hunter and Commando Leopard are crying out for a High Definition release. Well I can only hope. |
Well said Stanley-and welcome back from beyond the grave!;) |

Pete, sorry if I offended you. In my opinion, the majority of people who would buy these sorts of films; well I would say they grew up with them in the 80's, or grew up with their notoriety as 'video nasties'. Your average person hasn't even heard of The beyond, or The House by the Cemetery. Well that's my theory anyway. I would like to make a really violent, vile piece of nothing, that says nothing, but causes a reaction, hopefully the wrong reaction, so the BBFC would freak. Anyone have any decent scripts hanging around? |

We've just recieved word from Arrow that The Commander is going ahead cut, as 'it seems the set up of the shots would not pass the BBFC, or it would be very difficult.' |
