Cheers for that. Looks like I'll actually have to pay full whack for an Arrow release Although I would like to see some reviews first.

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere after Arrow put it on Facebook but, just in case, this has come in from Arrow:

Very sorry to have to report bad news, but unfortunately at a recent meeting with Variety Communications, the worldwide rights holders to ZOMBI 2 / ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS we were told we must region code the film to European region 2 for DVD, B for Blu-ray. Unfortunately this is a contractual stipulation that we cannot get out of. Apologies for those in other regions who have pre-ordered and will possibly be facing disappointment. We can only say that this might be a good time to get that region free player – our release is scanned from the original negative and will display a greater sharpness and quality, as well as more picture information, than any other release previously available. We are entering final stages of our restoration now and hope to be unveiling more info and pictures soon.

I too thought it had been canceled (or massively delayed) reading that Facebook post.

This: "our release is scanned from the original negative and will display a greater sharpness and quality, as well as more picture information, than any other release previously available." is certainly a bold claim, I cannot wait to see how it compares.

Bewildering the company would want the release locked considering it's available in the US region free, but if the claim about the print is true, perhaps they are hoping when Blue Underground lose the rights that another company seeks out their print in order to provide a reason for consumers to double dip. Who knows. I really hope that statement is true and not hyperbole though.

Arrow:
"...Variety Communications, the worldwide rights holders to ZOMBI 2 / ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS..."

"Variety Communications have never heard of Blue Underground"

Are they implying the BU release isn't 100% official? Not trying to create rumours, but that's what it looks like.

Good news about the quality of this release from Arrow.I just hope it lives up to that statement. Not so good news for overseas customers about the region-locking though.I'm going to pre-order the Arrow Blu-ray now.

I reckon there's going to be some moaning about region locking anytime soon, just as when Arrow announced the Demons Blus were to be locked.
After reading the comments on Facebook, it appears Arrow have taken their transfer from a different source to the BU one, so this really could be the definitive HD release and a major earner for Arrow, meaning plenty more shithot titles next year
