I didn't even notice it, just like the boat scene, I've only ever been bothered by cuts if they jar with my enjoyment of the film, with both avengers and ZFE I wasnt even aware of the cuts at all until it was pointed out to me.

However I paid top whack for avengers on blu, I liked the movie and I really like marvel comics (in spite of some of the silliness with the comics, like killing off peter parker) and I expect all the bonus material.

Just dug out my oldish Stonevision ZFE dvd, compared to Arrow's dvd the first scene is exactly the same, so the '6 sec missing' is a Blu problem not present on the dvd.

The first scene, post titles on Arrow's dvd starts as normal, with the boat entering from right of frame(grab below)

Is that the very first frame?
If I'm not mistaken, it should be just the city, then the boat comes in, still it's more than in the blu. The plot thickens...

No, that's a fair few frames in, I wanted to show the boat clearly, I would guess that Stephen's view that 'branching' has caused a glitch on the Blu is correct

It's really odd that the footage doesn't appear on the video stream in the Blu Ray. Looking like it may have been an encoding balls up. Mucho weirdness.

Yep, just as I thought, a mistake on the blu-ray. Sorry to people who don't care about the missing footage, but it's a ****up, pure and simple. A mistake's clearly been made at the authoring when they've decided to do the branching. Maybe the guy doing it didn't like the opening shot, and decided to toss some of it away.

I wonder does anyone at Arrow actually watch a check disc or know the content of the films they're releasing? I know that's sweeping but after not noticing the Beyond debacle, which was so bleeding obvious...

I do care stephen,as i saw the cut version when i was 12 and that was the first shot of the nyc sky line and the bow of the boat coming in from the right of the screen,no pre credit scene of the bullit to the head in the good ol 80,s.......by the way just rewatched my arrow with out the wife and my boys......what a beautifully shot film......true craftmanso

OK as we now know it's an error what are the chances of getting a disc replacement?

It appears that this feature of having 3 opening titles has a lot to answer for as it was sited as the cause of the disc originally being delayed and now we discover it's also cost us the opening shot of the film.

Do we really need 3 sets of opening titles anyway? seems a but gimmicky to me and this time it comes at a high cost
