The reason I'm not such a big fan of Demons 2 is because it's just more of the same. The first one ends with the idea that if there's gonna be a sequel it'll be set in a cool apocalyptic humans against Demons mass war, but what we get in the second is 'Demons in a tower-block'.

I agree Demons 2 is still gory fun, but it could have been so much more.

Well i understand where your coming from there. You expected to build on the first rather than the outbreak starting from scratch (not a pun by the way) again.

I do have to say Demons 2. Sorry guy's, but i'm letting the nostaligic in me get the better this time.
Demons 2 was the first one I watched, and on the simple basis that there equaly dumb, hilarious, awsome and gory films, Demons 2 get's the vote on the nostalgic factor alone.

Well I've just watched the first one. Thought it was alright (why did the helecopter fall through the ceiling ) - Evil Dead without the laughs or a character to root for. Maybe I'll try the sequel later on, but I'm not expecting much if it's more of the same . . .

You don't ask why the helicopter fell though the ceiling, you just enjoy the fact that it did.

Yeah, I put it down to a sign of me not getting into the film that I was questioning stuff like that (and why did the main dude think he could just fly it back out of the hole?!). And what was the deal with the haunted mask on that motorbike sculpture, waiting for someone to try it on? Metal face Soavi should've just handed em out in the foyer as a promotional thing for the film! . . .

He only tried to start it to kill some demons with the rotor blades.
At least that´s how I remembered it, maybe I should check the scene again

To provide one of genre cinema's greatest ever moments.

There are all kinds of things I could suggest - the pilots were attacked by demons so it crashed (which is true but why into the cinema? Why not? OK then) or - my pet theory - the evil emanating from the cinema is in all directions including upwards and this brings down the helicopter as it flies over head.

Ultimately though, the reason for it is that it is the greatest, most wonderful deus ex machina in 80s horror cinema which displays a lot of nerve on the part of the film-makers and a tremendous sense of humour.

In short, because it was cool!
