To be fair, in 9 years of buying online, the HME fiasco is the only time I've been blatantly ripped off. Order from Amazon, Play etc and you'll never have a problem and you'll always get what you paid for. But, I'm not one to tell people how and why they should spend their money. However, I will say it must be frustrating for you being able to only read about half of what's discussed on here because you have no access to those films because you won't import. In my opinion, and that's all it is, you're missing out BIG time on some great foreign releases. Do you really think Night Train Murders, Strip Nude for Your Killer et al will get Region B releases in the foreseeable future? No. So you'll never own them in HD. Doesn't that bother you??

HMV and Amazon have Combat Shock and Surf Nazi's for a pre order price of £6 at the moment.

Ha! Same here, probably eleven years of online buying and HorrorMovieExpress was the only time I've had trouble to. Bank pulled my cash back in a three minute phone call. But honestly, we should of ALL known better, that site looked like it was built 15 years ago for a school project. I wonder what percentage of poor experiences come purely from HME! Amazon customer support is insane to the stage where they lose a lot of money through it (I've known people complain things have turned up damaged and they've just posted a new one out, told them to keep original).

My TV is only 19" and non-HD, so it would mean buying a new TV as well. And frankly, I'm more than happy with the quality of DVDs. From what I've read, people with Blu-Ray players tend to get extremely picky when it comes to picture quality (look at a few Arrow titles for evidence of that...).

Blu isn't that much superior to DVD yet and in some cases it's not up to par. I wouldn't think of trading my copy of Inferno on DVD for the blu edition.

Sony paid big dollars to make blu the standard but have fallen into some of the same traps that DVD did without the cost benefits.

Aside from cheaper blu looking worse than budget DVD. There's a company here in North America that is infamous for that, digital media has slowed down DVD buying as well and as a gamer its affecting gaming as well.

I have plenty of collector friends that have VHS and laser disc still in they're collection.

I honestly see no reason at this point to convert completely to blu. At this point DVD is still the format choice for most collectors with blu being still a specialty item.

A good BD release is always superior to the DVD in my opinion. And when it comes to Arrows BD of Inferno i wouldn't trade it for my DVD either as there is problems with unnecessary DNR.

If you mean "cheap" like they have dona a bad job with digital manipulations and not worked with the print with respect of the movie, then i agree.

People don't mention these things with DVD because, well it's DVD, it's standard def, you can't complain of the lack of amazing quality because you know that going in. There's an expection with the HD format that it should look the best and when it doesn't it needs to be said. The moaning in particular to Arrow has been arround poor encoding, when Arrow get handed a good remaster but botch the encode then it's something they need to know about for future quality control.

At the end of the day those TV sets you have will die which is the point you'll have to purchase a HDTV and then you'll be playing DVDs on a display that could do so much more!

I own the 25th Shriek Show DVD and the Blue Underground BD of Zombi 2 and the difference between them is night and day, you're in for a treat if the remaster is the same for Arrows edition.

Agreed but it's still finding those great blu ray discs that make it worth it. That's why I'll always have a mix of blu and standard DVD. I've been thinking of collecting some older VHS as well, some of the art on t is amazing.
