Christmas Evil aka You Better Watch Out (Arrow Video DVD)

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...VIL_2D_DVD.jpg

BETTER WATCH OUT… BETTER NOT CRY… OR YOU MAY DIE!

When little Harry sees his Dad in a Santa Claus outfit, groping his mother one Christmas Eve, life changes for the quiet little boy. Thirty odd years later, you’d better watch out in this 80s horror classic from the small but perfectly formed micro-genre of Yuletide Slashers.

Because now - all grown up and disgruntled by his dead end job in a depressing toy factory - he’s making a list, checking it twice and descending into a self-created Christmas nightmare where he is Father Christmas and his judgement is final! Dressed as St. Nick, Harry is going to show his bullying co-workers and all the other naughty people what the true spirit of the season is... Run for your miserable lives, the vengeance is going to be swift and bloody!

In your hands is a true dark Christmas oddity that cult movie kingpin John Waters described as "greatest Christmas movie ever made."

Looking forward to this.

Not so keen on the reverse. I get that it's a play on Christmas Card designs, but I still prefer the newly comissioned art, even if Santa does look slightly surprised. 100% purchase for me though, already pre-ordered.

Contributions from Kim Newman and John Waters in the booklet too o.O can't wait.

I quite like the reverse personally. It reminds me of The Night Before Christmas book I used to read non-stop at christmas when I was younger. Just a more twisted version

But dat front artwork! :faint:

Shaping up to be a great release with great art. I still can't remember if I've seen this before and didn't like it or if I'm thinking of a different film but I'll definitely pick this up for a watch during the festive period.

I've never seen this, is it as good as Silent Night, Deadly Night (which I thought was okay)? Or is a blind buy not recommended for this release?

Its a fun movie and it is in its own twisted way an actual feel good Christmas slasher film. The ending is...unique.

I personally like the film.

demonknight 5th October 2012 07:19 PM

My synapse dvd of Christmas evil will suffice thank you very much. Same extras if i'm not
mistaken.

demonknight 5th October 2012 07:20 PM

Bar the booklet of course.

Nostalgic 9th November 2012 05:22 PM

Can't wait for this! Hopefully should get it by wednesday next week!
Amazing features, will sit nicely next to the frankly astounding releases of VHS rental faves Silent Night, Deadly Night, Slaughter High and Pieces.
80's slashers given the kind of respect/extras they deserve!
Thanks arrow!

I was about to buy the Synapse edition and then noticed Arrow released it in the UK. Can anyone comment on the quality of the disc? Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a nasty NTSC to PAL transfer or the sound doesn't sync up, that kind of thing.

A Christmas Classic

Watched this recently at a screening in Manchester UK. A wonderful film and far more than a slasher film as it is often perceived . Did a review on my blog last week - thecorpsegrinder at wordpress . Will post a link once done 15 posts :)

ArgentoFan1987 9th January 2013 10:29 AM

I bought this just before christmas (what great timing!!!) for £9. It was the first thing I watched (just before I started work) on Christmas Day. It was much better thatn Silent Night, Deadly Night (although I aslo loved that) because of Brandon Maggart. He was so weird that it mad the film so much better than it perhaps should've been.
