I don't see why the pictures can't just be cropped. That's what all the blurays I've seen have done. My Let Me In bluray has part of Chloe's head chopped off compared to the dvd. I must admit that this nearly put me off buying, but not as much as the black or white lines. I say crop the pictures or change the size of the windows on such releases.

If blu-ray cases had just remained the same size as dvd cases, this would never have been a problem. The shape of a dvd case is comparable to the shape of traditional movie posters.
