I really love the Black Cat sleeve! I'm not 100% sure about the Venus In Furs sleeve but that could just be because I'm a girl. It is cool though.

Love the 'Black Cat' sleeve...My only problem with the 'Venus' sleeve is the quality of the main image. I do like that silhouette and the font though, very nice.

the Black Cat sleeves gives fulci a credit on the cover which is good news, anything that can raise these cult filmmakers profile is always good. The Venus Sleeve works because it looks even more like an early 80s smut video, the kind of grimy object that used to lurk on the top shelf of Scene 1 video in newport, next to the confessions films...

Venus in Fur will have this grainy look, It was hard to find an image that wasn't too offensive to put on the cover!

It's a S&M movie, so the cover reflects that. Shameless releases will reflect the huge range of Italian cult movies from Giallo to horror to crime films.

Also, the actual quality of the image for the VENUS cover isn't very good, but I don't know if that's to do with the actual image itself, or just the version you've used to show us (e.g. a mock-up).

The feedback on Black Cat is interesting - I like the cover as it reminds me of an Amicus or Hammer film and being set in England it does have that feel. How about the tagline though?

As for Venus I take your points Sarah and Pooch but this film is if we're being honest a giant excuse for lots of sex scenes! It's all based on a famous S&M novel hence the shot on the front is appropriate. This is where we run into the problem of image quality - it will look better printed but it's a screengrab which will always look rather bleary (especially for such a soft focus film). We struggle to get original artwork that's any good hence with some titles we have to make up something else - an exception would be New York Ripper which had iconic artwork we could use.

Venus has been a problem sleeve though as we've wrestled with ideas - does it put anyone off seeing it?

See what you reckon to the sleeves for no.3 - Killer Nun and no.4 - Torso... and compare and contrast Black Cat and Venus:

and...

The killer nun sleeve is tremendous, completely offensive without having anything that could used as a excuse for stores to pull it. also, very different from the Blue Underground release and a million times better than to terrible art on the video sleeve all those years ago

The sleeves are great - reall nice uniform style. I love the taglines you guys are coming up with too - the TORSO one in particular, is very funny

Almar,

Can I post these to the Shameless Myspace Blog?

Maybe I'll post one then provide a link to the forum to see the others...
