Let the Right One In (2008)
Agreed, great film especially coming out of Sweden! Just wish the subs on our DVD/Blu-ray release was treated with that much respect! Don't get me started on that remake, still pissed that's happening!Posted 19th August 2009 at 07:56 PM by xxsic4slipknotxx -

Antichrist (2009)
Cheers BE, glad you enjoyed it and thansk for reading!
I haven't been impressed by von Trier's post-millennium work to be honest. I think his 90's output was far more rewarding, as for the TV-show; I'm still yet to see it! Damn my eyes. I've wanted to see it for some time but still haven;t gotten round to it! I'm told it's the tits though.Posted 12th August 2009 at 09:24 AM by Philleh -
Antichrist (2009)
Excellent review Philleh.
I'm torn when it comes to Von Trier's work. I love some of it, but alot of it I don't much care for. I did enjoy Antichrist, but am looking forward to a second viewing on DVD, where I can really absorb it thoroughly - I think it's definitely a film that needs a repeat viewing. Have you seen his TV series Riget? Amazing stuff - probably my favourite Von Trier to date.Posted 11th August 2009 at 07:11 PM by bizarre_eye@Cult Labs -
Salo: 120 Days of Sodom
Thank MBV, glad you enjoyed the read.
As for that 80%, I think I'd probably be one of them. Sitting through this on the small screen was an ordeal; the big screen might have been a little too much for me! I think hell could be summed up as being locked in a cinema with this movie on repeat, nowhere to go, surrounded by the horrors of the film and nothing else to do but re-watch it for eternity... horrifying!
Masterpiece none the less.Posted 11th August 2009 at 03:03 PM by Philleh -
Salo: 120 Days of Sodom
This is the first movie I saw that made me feel real guilty about watching it. I saw it first in a 'Banned' season in a cinema in Dublin and about 80% of the audience walked out before the movie was even half way through.
Great reviewPosted 7th August 2009 at 07:57 AM by mbv -
To Be Twenty (Avere Vent’anni - 1978)
Cheers B.E! Glad you enjoyed it.
It's an interesting movie to say the least. I'm surprised it's not seen more DVD releases worldwide!Posted 15th July 2009 at 12:21 PM by Philleh -
To Be Twenty (Avere Vent’anni - 1978)
Nice review Phil. I've never seen this, but always fancied picking it up - wish I had now!Posted 10th July 2009 at 07:40 PM by bizarre_eye@Cult Labs -
Masters of Giallo - The first three!
Thank for the kind words, ya'll!! But lets give it up for Arrow for actually showin' these films some luurv!
ILUV, Macabre is a great film. I'm a sucker for the gloss of early 80's Fulci though - he films from this period were simply gorgeous. Macabre was a tad ugly, but it matched the subjected matter perfectly! haPosted 7th July 2009 at 10:16 AM by Philleh -
A Bittersweet Life
Thanks dude! I'm jealous as hell that you saw it on the big screen! I had the pleasure of seeing A Tale of Two Sisters on the big screen though, that was a great experience! As was The Good, The Bad, The Weird!Posted 7th July 2009 at 10:13 AM by Philleh -
A Bittersweet Life
hey
nice review. A Bittersweet Life is one of the best gangster films I've ever seen.
I had the pleasure of watching it in the theater at the Philly Film festival a couple years ago. One of the best movie viewing experiences of my life.Posted 29th June 2009 at 01:10 AM by cksdayoff -
Masters of Giallo - The first three!
Superb reviews there Phill! Although, personally, I found Macabre to be the best of the three (just scrapping past THBTC), but thats just mePosted 19th June 2009 at 05:53 PM by iluvdvds@Cult Labs -

Masters of Giallo - The first three!
Great reviews phil. Funny you should mention Redemptions cover art, the same guy who did the artwork for the MOG releases also done new artwork for Redemptions Grapes of Death and The Nude Vampire that were given awy free with DVD World magazine and they looked superb.Posted 2nd June 2009 at 11:41 AM by Pete -
The Great Ecstasy of Robert Carmichael
Too true Almar. There's a 'fan' group on facebook which is pretty much "I want to punch slow walkers in the back of the head" - that scares me. I know it's more than likely a joke, but who's to say on the right/wrong day, someone will lash out at something as trival as the pace someone walks?Posted 30th April 2009 at 08:49 PM by Philleh -
The Great Ecstasy of Robert Carmichael
It does sadly seem to be true - this increase of aggression - not just men though - it can be pretty scary out there sometimes when you accidentally bump into someone for instance. the flipside is you find yourself turning into an intolerant git and ultimately it only pushes you down.Posted 28th April 2009 at 07:52 PM by Almar@Cult Labs -
Eaten Alive (Mangiati Vivi)
It's a staple of the genre, it's what sold the movies. Being the exploitation king that he is, Martino needed that element to sell the movie. Same as Deodato, Lenzi and Mattei; who continued to carry out such practises as late as 2003!!Posted 28th April 2009 at 11:25 AM by Philleh
