The Golden Age Of Horror?

Welcome all to the blob's den. As i've mentioned before, I'm a huge fan of early talking horror, especially from the 1930's and 1940's. Yes, a lot of it is tame by anywhere near modern standards but these movies laid the ground for much of what was to come. You'll find the first ever official zombie movie, countless vampires, mad experiments, gothic tales and even some bona-fide pure exploitation. Some are so steeped in atmosphere that they still have the power to scare or at least send the odd chill down your spine.
Certainly in the UK, I've always found it a much maligned era but it's one that I grew up with from late-night double bills of Val Lewton on BBC2, running alongside classics from Hammer and Amicus. This blog is my desperate attempt to revive some interest in these timeless pieces, whether they stem from the classic studios or Poverty Row.
