The 1974 Black Christmas was a hugely important film for horror cinema, with its bleak forboding atmosphere, unseen assassin, grisly kills and knockout of an ending it set a high standard for other slasher films to follow. I first saw the original on Christmas Eve 2000 and it made a huge impact on me after waiting years before then to finally see it. As a kid growing up my first love was always slasher movies and even today it's still my most loved sub-genre. Its simplicity is what sets it above films of other genres, I'm open minded when it comes to films and especially when they're in the horror family but with this kind of film it's always so accessible and as a result my first port of call.
