Lucio Fulci and Umberto Lenzi were commsioned by Reitalia Television to direct two movies in a tv series called the House of Doom. They were nver shown because they where deemed to violent. The only release they got was a vhs release in Japan. In 2003 they finnaly got a UK release from Vipco in the House of Doom collection:

The House of Clocks - Dir: Lucio Fulci,

This film is about a group of youths who plan to rob a large house that is owned by two elderly people. This is the best movie in the series, it is also the goriest. VIPCO`S DVD is letterboxed at 1.85:1 and looks quite good. the only extras (as with the rest of the collection) are the usual trailers, gallery and filmographies.

The Sweet House of Horrors - Dir: Lucio Fulci,

Lucio Fulci`s second in the collection plays like a spooky childrens story as two kids try to make contact with their dead parents, who are graphiclly murdered in the opening sequence. Aside from the opening murder the film has very little violence or gore. It is also let down by the terrible dubbing of the two children. Not one of Fulci`s best. The DVD is letterboxed 1.85:1 and is the best looking movie in the collection.

The House of Lost Souls - Dir: Umberto Lenzi,

Made in 1986 This film is about a group of goelogists who make the silly descision to stay in a sinister rundown hotel in the middle of nowhere. This not a very good movie, the cast are irritating ( jess franco fans keep a look out for Beni Cardosi from Barbed Wire Dolls ) and there is hardly any gore, plus it uses music from Lamberto Bavas Demons (1985). The DVD is letterboxed at 1.66:1 and looks quite good.

The Hose of Witchcraft - Dir: Umberto Lenzi,

The story is about a youn man who has a recurring dream about being chased into an old house where an old woman then boils his head in a big pot. In real life his wife books a holoiday in a old house in the hills that turns out to be (shock! horror!) the one from his dream. This is the worst movie in the collection. It has no gore, is very slow and has one the most predictable endings ever. This film has a good quality 1.85:1 transfer.

This is only reccomended to die hard fans of italian horror.

I've only seen "House of Clocks" so far, which was quite good for a late Fulci- so I was curious to read more about the other movies in the "House of Doom" collection.
It's been some time since I last saw "Clocks", but if I recall correctly, the ending had a neat, little, darkly humouruos twist involving a cat....
