The best diet for weight loss becomes increasingly important as we age because during the aging process most of us will gain weight. In addition this weight we have gained is increasingly hard to budge. Many people try the latest diet craze or fad to fix the issue, and many people get a result temporarily. This is then followed by regaining this weight, and in most cases gaining even more back again. In general then, there is no best diet for weight loss, if we want the body of our younger years we need to combine a sensible diet with a regular and sustained training plan.

When we embark on a diet for weight loss, we do lose fat, but we also lose muscle and the drop in weight shown on the scales make us think we are making real progress. As we lose muscle mass our metabolism slows down even more and we can't burn the calories we were prior to the diet, so we would have to eat even less to lose weight.
