'Ow I ended up 'ere.

Sorry about the political rant but I hadn't had my shreddies then, hunger always makes me a little abrasive and Northern.
My Curriculum Vitae
Left Hinde House Comprehensive School in 1976 and spent the glorious summer having a lot of fun.
I started work as an apprentice crankshaft grinder at GKN Shardlow until work dried up in 1983 due to the (gritted teeth) lovely Mrs Thatcher said we didn't need industry in this country as it made such a mess (stop gnashing, y'll du y'sen a mischief).
Applied for every job in Sheffield and Rotherham and all I could get was part-time bar work so I spent '83 to '86 off of my head.
After waking up one morning and finding that all my "friends" were drunk, dead or dead drunk I decided to either run away with the circus as a clown cage cleaner or join the Royal Navy and scrub, er, I mean SEE the world.
I signed on as a Steward, thinking that a change from engineering was in order, but swiftly changed to MEM (Marine Engineering Mechanic).
After Plymouth I was sent to Gosport to HMS Sultan and from there to HMS Collingwood in Fareham. When the bar was shut one Sunday lunch my mate and I wandered towards Fareham and fell into a little pub on the way called "The Bird in Hand" little knowing that it would be the end of my freedom. That night we went back to "The Bird" and I got talking to a very personable barmaid, Pearl,... we have been married for 25 years now.
In 1988 Katherine was born, she is a wonderful, bright girl who, unfortunately, takes her taste in music, movies and other cultural "stuff" from me. Fortunately the majority of her looks are from her mum. With good looks and nerd tastes she is the perfect match for any bloke and I think her boyfriend agrees!
In 1990 I was involved in a car crash which left me with a dodgy back. Two years later I was medically discharged from service.
1993, four years and fifty-one weeks after Katherine was born we had Joseph. He also has my tastes in "stuff" but has gone extreme on me! He's heavily into obscure prog rock that I have never gone for. He collects old "big box" computer games and studies Politics at Portsmouth University. Unfortunately for him he does share my dubious looks. Ah well life can be tough.
After many years trying to find work with a duff back the insurance company paid out for my injuries and we bought an old house (1862) in Portsmouth and I went to Portsmouth University to retrain and get away from engineering. I chose Sociology, sheesh! Well three years later, in 2001, I started work at a local secondary school and, although the school is now an Academy under new management, I am still there working with some very good people to help the children who, because of various problems, cannot access the curriculum.
Now all that is out of the way I can finally think of trying to write something that "like-minded people" might enjoy reading. In the words of Arnie "I'll be back!"
