I'm not really up on Spare's art, his writing frazzles my brain as it is. Have you tried getting hold of Grant's "Images and Oracles of Austin Osman Spare"? I haven't checked but I'm guessing it goes for silly money.

Obviously i haven't read it yet but it seems fairly thin for £15.

From flicking through it the content looks promising. Some top writers involved. Everyone from kermode and Newman to Mark Gatiss and Charley Higson. Not to mention Michael Brooke who is a member of this forum.

Picked up the updated The Art Of The Nasty from my local bookshop today for £10. I needed to replace my old copy which now has loose pages due to repeated reading.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. If you are old enough to remember the glory days of video, this book will take you right back to being in your video shop, slavishly staring over the lurid artwork. 10/10.
