Waiting For the Sun.

Quote:
No city in the western world exerts such a fascination as the glamorous, debauched Los Angeles, and there is no city with more of a draw to musicians. Defined by the music of Brian Wilson, The Doors, NWA, jazz, funk, soul, hip hop, and fulled by drugs, alcohol, sun, sex and surf, LA has seen it all. Barney Hoskyns tells the definitive story of L.A.'s post-war music scene and spent nearly a decade researching this account of music which developed into a culture of its own. 'A hilarious, chilling, thoroughly scabrous history of post-war pop music in Los Angeles

Speaking of bargains, bought this from eBay last week for £7.99 delivered, said “like new with slight wear to the dust cover”, well its brand new, nothing wrong with the cover at all! I would’ve posted the link when I bought it, but I wanted to see what it was like first just in case a few members took advantage of the deal and it was tatty.

American Gothic
I'm reading that at the moment. Must admit the first two chapters aren't easy going as there's a lot of talk about silent films that i'll never be able to see as they don't exist.

I’ve barely started his Euro Gothic book that my sister bought me for Xmas in 2017

Still need to get English Gothic to complete the set

English Gothic is my fave so far. I actually have the majority of films discussed thanks to the likes of Network and Renown releasing creaky old British movies.

Euro Gothic suffers from not having a decent index of English to foreign titles making looking up individual films a struggle.

I know what you mean. I was flicking through both English Gothic and American Gothic the other evening.
It's great when you can read a book and say you have every film in the book or most of them.
