Yeah. I have the book too and the tv series on recorded vhs...somewhere.

It came out in 97, a year after Christopher Frayling's excellent Nightmare the Birth of Horror book and tv series.

I remember watching the show when it was on, I think I have it on VHS too somewhere amongst all my old tapes in the loft

Never got the book, although according to Amazon, it's been on my wish list for 4 years!

A weird one The Dark Tower.

For years it was almost mythical because he wrote some volumes but then stopped. It was actually a little disappointing when he went back to writing them.

Six years is a long time between installments and in my opinion King's writing style changed dramatically during those years.

The first novel is a bit all over the shop and you really shouldn't decide whether to continue or not based on it. The second two novels - The Drawing of the Three and Wastelands are brilliant and the best of the series for me. By then you will be in love with the characters and even though the series has its ups and downs from here on out its the characters that will keep you reading. Long emotional story arcs that take two or three books to cover, Kings usual long winded never use one page when i could use 3 approach to descriptions. Weirdness galore. At least that's my take on it.
Still not read Wind Through The Keyhole though. Anyone?

There are actually two movies based on this book. The original Swedish version, made in 2008, and the Hammer remake ('Let Me In'), made in 2010
