Default Edgar Allan Poe

Hi everyone,

How many fans of Edgar Allan Poe do we have on here?

Let us know with this thread! What's your favourite story of his?

For me it's got to be The Tell Tale Heart - such a great tale that I can read over and over.

But what's yours?

His sense of atmosphere is still being "borrowed", cough, today. Along with Arthur Machen, HPL etc etc have never really read anything quite like it. I've read a lot by people who would have killed to have a smidgen of his style....but that is beside the point haha. As to a favourite? Hmmmm......

Poe's writing style and ability to 'romanticise' terror through prose has had a lasting effect on me and even helped shape my own writing style a great deal (in particular the abundance of commas! ).

Hard to pick a favourite, but The Masque of the Red Death would be one of them.
