TV Times (dated 12 March, 1961) featuring 'The Avengers'

Note that this is the original Avengers, where Ian Hendry played the heroic Dr. David Keel, and the character of John Steed (played By Patrick MacNee) was a shadowy background player!

TV Times (dated September 13, 1980) - John Cleese, Peter Cook, Beryl Reid and (possibly) whats'erface from EastEnders...although it might be Paula Willcox!

Joanna Lumley and David McCallum on the cover of the TV Times dated July 7th, 1979. This was advertising the first series of 'Sapphire And Steel'

The following month - August 1979 - 'Look-In', which was billed as being the 'junior TV Times', also featured the programme on its front cover

Thursday, 24th March, 1977 - the 'big film' on ITV at 8:00pm was the 1968 version of 'Planet Of The Apes'

I don't think this would have been the first time showing on television. I would have thought 'Planet Of The Apes' would have been an 'event' film, and as such it would have debuted at Christmas, New Year, Easter or August bank holiday. [In 1977, Easter Sunday was on April 10th and not at the end of March!]

TV Times from April 16th, 1979 - Easter Monday!

Back in the days when we would get a James Bond film in the evening, This time it was 'You Only Live Twice'!!

It's strange to note that a film which, according to the DVD cover, has a run time of 112 mins, is being broadcast in a 2 hour time slot meaning there would only be 8 minutes of adverts during the screening

I wonder if this means that the movie had been edited to fit into that particular slot

It means they didn't have advert breaks every nine minutes back then.

We used to get the Radio Times delivered to the house.
It was a far better read than TV Times.
