The book Harryhausen - The Lost Movies which i received for Christmas is a gem if you are interested in Ray's films.

This deals with films that never got made or sequences from films that were made but had ideas and plot points removed or in some cases films Ray decided to turn down after coming up with concepts.

It's an easy but informed read and lavishly illustrated and is a superb companion piece to the other Harryhausen coffee table books i own - The Art of Ray Harryhausen and An Animated Life.

The book has a specially commissioned Graham Humphreys poster for an unmade Harryhausen version of War of the Worlds from 1949.

It's really stunning. I'm not going to post a pic of it though. Keep it as a surprise treat should anyone wish to purchase the book.

No matter what anyone thinks of the finished movie, this book is rammed with awesome concept art and also visuals of a film which could have been completely different.

Didn't know whether to put this in this thread or the extreme metal thread considering who it's being written by.
Niklas Kvarforth is releasing a horror book later this year

For me, I thought it was a good read. A very thick book detailing all the AIP releases and double bills and what was going on behind the scenes. The advertising speeches they made, Nicholson's marriage to Susan Hart etc.. It is not a review or making of book. It is a history of AIP told through publicity news and pressbook material and is really a reference book with a handful of black and white pictures and with some quotes from actors and behind the scenes people.
