This is a fun magazine. A quick read, but full of pictures and old ads.

I had no idea it was no longer being published.

Prior to 2009 i had no interest in it as it was mainly studio fodder, but the rise of Rue Morgue and their in depth articles on horror's history as well as new releases meant Fangoria latched onto their coat tales and for a while became a good read.

The price of £6 a month meant it became too expensive to bother with and the mag always needed searching out as WH Smith's never stocked it so once i missed an issue i was uncertain when it hit our shops, added to that places only got one copy so if that was purchased before i saw it and that was that.

Stopped buying Fango in the late 80s or so, started from the first issue in 79, it had a real sense of fun under Bob Martin but it was so U.S. biased ignoring Euro horror and giallo that I got into in a big way at the time in the mid 80s, so just lost interest, but will always remember the article with Bob Martin and David Cronenberg sharing a car ride and Bob telling Dave he was losing enthusiasm for horror after working on the mag, great reading at the time and genuinely unusual for the mag to publish, sorry to see it go.

(it arrived at just the right time to ride the slasher boom through the 80s too)

Looks like Dez Skinn has resurrected HOUSE OF HAMMER / HALLS OF HORROR magazine. Issue 24 now available, issue 25 ( THE DEVIL RIDES OUT ) next! The guy's a f*cking legend!
