A History Of Horrors by Denis Meikle. One of the best books on Hammer films I've ever read

Funny you should say that, Mojo! I've just borrowed that from the uni library!

Default What are you currently reading?

I'm currently reading "To The White Sea" by James Dickey who more famously wrote "Deliverance". I'm about halfway through at the moment but would highly recommend it - it's a badass classic.

Before that I read the incredibly dark and violent "Blood Meridian" by Cormac McCarthy - quite a tough read (stylistically) but well worth it if you can take it. I also recently read "The Atrocity Archives" by Charles Stross. Very enjoyable read, even though I'm not crazy on sci-fi.

Kingofwitches666 - the Alex Cox Spaghetti Western book mentioned earlier is called "10,000 Ways To Die" and comes highly recommended by me too, check it out.

Interesting you should mention Cormac McCarthy as I'm reading All the Pretty Horses as the first in his 'Border Trilogy' book -- I'm over half way through but I'm not sure whether to go straight onto The Crossing or read something by another author afterwards.

I'm part way through it, after several days of flicking. Pretty much the same as previous volumes but as it's been so long in coming, there are fewer undiscovered films on my part to read about. It also seems a bit top heavy on sexploitation titles, no bad thing from my point of few but perhaps not to everyone's taste. Still, it does contain a glowing review of Tinto Brass' excellent, pop art, pseudo-giallo "Deadly Sweet" which should give this neglected gem a wider audience.

From what I've read so far, it's incredibly up to date on Shameless releases.

Hope you enjoy it! He's quite forthright in his views and isn't afraid to crticise Hammer ( particularly their latter day output ).

You may not always agree ( I didn't! ) but it's a great read with some fascinating info.

You mean you haven't bought it yet, reaps?

Seriously though, it's a great read and well up to the standard of their previous volumes. There are indeed some ( very favourable ) Shameless releases in there. Arrow obviously came along just too late to be included. Volume 5 maybe?

Having finished All the Pretty Horses, I have now started Jack Kerouac's On the Road which is terrific so far.

I may have to buy those DVD Delirium books if they are as good as you all say they are.
