Enjoy.....I prefer The Drought to it, but then I would haha.

I quite enjoyed Under The Pyramids.
The problem with Mountains is the exaustive brain numbing description of every single detail which slows the story down to a crawl, Lovecrafts prose is normally quite readable but frankly Mountains is boring my tatties off.

Ok, he does tend to spoonfeed you with this one, but if you could hear this 40 minute audio version that I have, you wouldn't complain as it just rips the guts out of it and makes it sound like "a wee trip up north" cough.

It would have worked better if it were written from the perspective of one of the non scientist members of the expidition. Its the endless need to describe every last detail to death that kills the story for me.

Finally finished aMoM. Damn that was hard work, had that been the first piece of Lovecrafts work I'd read i would have been out off completely.
As it is I personally consider it to be a huge misfire on Howard's part.

So sticking with Lovecraft, I'm now halfway through The Dunwich Horror, it's hard to believe it was written by the same author. This is up there with the best of Lovecrafts writing for me. Finish it tonight.

Glad youre enjoying Dunwich. This is one I'd like to see done properly, though the budget would have to be sizeable I fear.....

AAnyway.....

I Slept With Joey Ramone by Mickey Leigh & Legs Mc Neill. A very candid book from the singer's brother, it adds another dimension to all the other Ramonic tales imho. Sent me racing back to.......

Legend Of A Rock Star by Dee Dee Ramone. A hysterical tome about his last tour from everyone's favourite ex rent boy, written in a "unique" style cough, this is a laugh riot from end to end, with the odd tinge of bittersweetness in between.

Still plodding along with Dr Sleep by SK, never in 25 years of reading his books have I taken as long to finish one, he's just not drawing me in like he usually does :/

I'm reading Great Expectations for the first time (currently about 2/3 of the way through) - a masterpiece of literature.

Read "Don't Tell Mum I Work On The Rigs, She Thinks I'm A Piano Player In A Whorehouse" by Paul Carter on the plane the other week. Absolutely fantastic read, hilarious too.
I'm now about halfway through "Horns" by Joe Hill, who, I learned today, is the son of Stephen King.
So far, "Horns" is great, though I'm not sure how much I'm looking forward to the film anymore, as I don't know if they'll do it justice
